The public exhibition period for a proposed 12-month trial for a smoke-free zone within Wagga Wagga's CBD has closed.

A report including the results of the consultation process was considered at the November 2015 Policy and Strategy Meeting and it was resolved not to proceed with a 12 month trial of smoke free areas in parts of Wagga Wagga CBD.

Background

At the July 2015 Council Meeting, Council resolved to place on public exhibition its intention to introduce a 12 month smoke-free trial in the CBD (Baylis Street, Fitzmaurice Streets and Forsyth Street - between Berry Street and Peter Street) and amend Council's Smoke-Free Outdoor Areas Policy.

A further report was presented to Council's November 2015 Policy and Strategy Committee Meeting.
