Wagga Wagga, we all have the ability to create an inclusive community.

The City of Wagga Wagga is in the process of putting together its Disability Inclusion Action Plan.

This plan will sit under the city’s new Community Strategic Plan (CSP) – the community’s guiding document for the future of the city – and all actions will be measured against the CSP.

To ensure the plan is a refelction of the community, both now and into the future, we need the community to share their ideas on how accessibility and inclusion can be improved across the city.

This action plan will ensure Wagga Wagga is proactive towards inclusion and accessibility and makes it a priority in the city’s planning.

Residents are encouraged to have their say via the online survey below.

All community members are also invited to a community consulation session on Monday 5 December, 2016. The session will be held in Wagga Wagga Art Gallery (Links Gallery) from 1.30pm to 4pm.
(Access via gallery lower entrance off Morrow Street, opposite glass gallery. Disability parking available in Morrow Street).

The community consultation has been designed for residents to learn more about how the City of Wagga Wagga is working in this space and a chance to leave thoughts and feedback on inclusion and accessibility across a range of areas within Council. Staff from each area of Council will also be available on the day to further talk to residents. Read more about the consultation here.

A disability can be caused by a range of conditions including intellectual, physical, cognitive, sensory, neurological impairments or mental illness.

The Disability Action Plan has four focus areas; employment, attitudes and behaviours, systems and processes and liveable communities.

The action plan is a legislative requirement of the State Government and must be ready for use by 1 July 2017.
